As we enter the final third of the month, the next film up is M. Night Shyamalan’s 2000 film Unbreakable, his follow-up to the widely successful The Sixth Sense the year before. While not as memorable as The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable does have some very distinct visual qualities.

Anyone who came into this film expecting another Sixth Sense was likely terribly disappointed. Willis is similarly subdued in this role as David Dunn as he was as Malcolm Crowe the year before, a distinctly different sort of portrayal than he was known for in film like the Die Hard franchise, The Fifth Element, or Armageddon. In these films he’s quiet, and even when he’s saving this day as Dunn in Unbreakable, he’s often still rather quiet.
